The political creatures Bush brought to Washington are like termites. After an infestation, it’s practically impossible to get rid of them.
It took a long time to root out Rumsfeld, Libby and even Heckuva-Job Brownie. Now the World Bank is finding it almost impossible to terminate Wolfowitz, Alberto Gonzales is like an indestructible cockroach and, as for Karl Rove, ask the Senate Judiciary Committee how hard it’s been to smoke him out of the woodwork.
This is not to say their predecessors were less hardy. Newt Gingrich is waiting to be coaxed out of his cocoon for ’08, and even the former pest-control mogul Tom DeLay is back scurrying around the edges of Washington.
By comparison, bed bugs and fire ants are easy.
Ain't that the truth. Those people are enough to turn me into a babbling idiot.
