“U.S. commanders in Iraq are increasingly convinced that heightened troop levels, announced by President Bush in January, will need to last into the spring of 2008.”
From General, later to be President, Dwight D Eisenhower, October 16, 1952: “Fanaticism consists in redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim. That is precisely the way we must not defend freedom today.”
