Gassing About Gas

Every year like clockwork, just before summer driving season, our friendly oil companies raise gasoline prices. The pain at the pump is bad enough, but the gibberish from all those “industry experts” makes it worse.

*"The problem this year is our continuing and increasing inability to refine enough gasoline to meet growing demand."

*"That gasoline inventory expectation…could be what's driving the market down."

*"There's no question gas will hit $4 a gallon...The question is how high will it go and how long will it last?"

*”Despite prices at the pump climbing past the $3 mark, analysts have said the inventory fears can only go so far, as evidenced by recent declines in oil and gas futures.”

And perhaps worst of all:

“The U.S. Senate may soon be voting on legislation that aims to drive down gasoline demand by boosting the fuel economy of cars and trucks...If the legislation is accepted by the full Senate, it still must be approved by the House of Representatives and signed by President George W. Bush before it could become law.”

Take our money, but stop insulting our intelligence.
