Hell Freezes Over

Snow fell today in Baghdad for the first time in a hundred years.

According to the head of the local meteorology department, it was the "result of two air flows meeting. The first one was cold and dry and the second one was warm and humid." He attributed the phenomenon to climate change and, by the topsy turvy logic of Iraq, global warming might just be responsible for snow in desert heat.

While he is in the region, President Bush will no doubt explain it as one of the benefits of democracy. It didn't snow in Iran.

  1. Perhaps God is a novelist with a sense of whimsy.
Absolutely odd and oddly fascinating tidbit.
