Time Magazine has unveiled the world's most influential people chosen by its readers. Heading the list are the video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and the 25-year-old Korean pop singer Rain, followed by Stephen Colbert, supermodel Heidi Klum and former supermodel Tyra Banks.
In 14th place, Eliot Spitzer is still a big influence in some way. He outranks Nelson Mandela (18), Jon Stewart (25), Bill Gates (26), Pervez Musharraf (38) and Warren Buffet (39).
Of the presidential candidates, Barack Obama is 45th, John McCain 57th and Hillary Clinton 183rd. George W. Bush is only 158th, but he is ahead of celebrity gossiper Perez Hilton (197) and the Dalai Lama (207).
Accompanying the list is a question that could be emanating from the grave of Time's founding father, Henry Luce: "Are They Worthy?"
Who are these readers and why should I care what they think?
ReplyDeleteWe are drowning in a sea of mediocraty and trivia.
Who? I've never heard of the first two "headliners" in my life. And as the first anonymous poster commented, why should we care?
ReplyDeleteThere are far more important things to contemplate and consider in this world than a list of so-called influential people, most of whom lack any real influence, substance or talent. Are they worthy, indeed!
