The MSM's silent soap opera is over.
From ABC: "In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her." (Reminiscent of Bill Clinton's admission that he smoked marijuana but did not inhale?)
Even in confessing, Mr. Sincere is still playing the angles, timing his disclosure for a late Friday night news dump when all eyes will be on the opening of the Olympics. (My confession: Edwards has always brought out the worst in me, a skepticism bordering on cynicism. More here.)
"It is time for me to step aside so that history can blaze its path," Edwards says.
Amen to that.
I'm fairly saddened by this story, Bob.
ReplyDeleteNot because Edwards revelation was a shock to me. No, I expect young glamourous men who are politicians will give into temptations of all stripes.
No, what saddens me is that this poor shnook was hounded about it, as it really and truly is a non-story. He was no longer running for office, didn't stand a chance of being anything except maybe AG in an Obama administration, and really just made a mistake.
This was none of my business but it was forced down my throat like Larry Craig's penis.
Who was you said interviewed Edwards? Was it Helen Keller?
ReplyDeleteWhy wasn't he asked, "what the fork were you doing in that Los Angeles hotel with the rotwieler?
"Were you there just checking to see if that baby that isn't your didn't look like you"?
Anne Coulter is right. There really is two Americas. One of idiots, and one where they think the rest of us are all idiots!
ROFLMAO at the MSM for finally having to acknowledge this sordid affair. We get oodles of coverage of some goofball evangelist's wife getting po'ed at a flight attendant but when a liberal, Demo VP Candidate gets caught in a MAJOR hipocrisy, silence.
ReplyDeleteThis is no news! It is expected of a Democrat, a party of loose morals. First, Bill Clinton, then Edwards! For the Democrats, anything goes - homosexuality, extra-marital affairs, fornication...and the list goes on and on. If we stop to think about this, it is no mystery. Before people cry foul, it is wise to look at the facts. America's NUMEROUS problems stem from such moral values. Deny it, and you'll continue on the downward spiral. We need to get back to the basics. No other way out!
ReplyDeleteI say, who cares? I am so sick and tired of the news being little more then gossip anymore. Who cares a preacher wife went off on a plane, or a star or my next door neighbor did? Who cares who messed around with who. Why does the media think we care about this gossip (lets get in everyone else's business) junk. Its like if you are on TV for any reason, your life is to be displayed for the rest of the public. Thank heavens I am not on TV! This is NOT news! The bus accident in Texas IS new..the fighting between Georgia and Russia IS news. Missing children is news! At least do counter news stories of people on TV doing the right thing once in awhile to counter this constant trash we hear. I am so sick of the news. (gossip slash entertainment). Then we wonder why American's are some of the most stressed out people in the world!
ReplyDeleteHold the press! Doesn't this ugly cow bear a striking resemblance to the one that Prince Charles married, Camilla something or other?? John, you are not as smart as I thought especially when your wife is zillion times prettier than this, this...I can't find the words to describe her repulsiveness...sorry!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, the plot thickens! He says he will take a DNA test to prove that he is not the father of this mysterious child born 9 months after their interaction. He wants a former campaign team leader to take the fall for him, what's he going to do, have the DNA records switched? And by the way, what the hell was happening on that campaign trail anyway! If this is what it is like to run for President, then I'm in the wrong business!
ReplyDeleteAt least Slick Willy didn't get Monica pregnant.
Robert:
ReplyDeleteLooks like your instincts about this fellow were correct.
