The ACORN Non-Issue

Amid all the Republican accusations against ACORN for its drive to register new voters, the simple truth seems to be that hourly workers scammed the non-profit organization by submitting fake names, but there is no evidence whatsoever of fraud by non-existent voters actually going to the polls to cast ballots.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now is guilty of sloppiness but no sinister intent to rig the election for former community organizer Barack Obama.

When con artists fill their quotas of new names with the lineup of the Dallas Cowboys, as they did in Las Vegas, raiding the ACORN offices for evidence of voter fraud may seem excessive to everyone but Fox News.

"When we have identified suspicious applications," an ACORN official explains, "we have separated them out and flagged them for election officials. We have zero tolerance for fraudulent registrations. We immediately dismiss employees we suspect of submitting fraudulent registrations.

"Today's raid by the secretary of state's office is a stunt that serves no useful purpose other than discredit our work registering Nevadans and distracting us from the important work ahead of getting every eligible voter to the polls."

The nonpartisan Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University Law School, according to CNN, "reviewed voter fraud claims across the country and found that most were caused by technical glitches, clerical errors or mistakes made by voters. One other finding: A person is more likely to be struck by lightning than to impersonate another voter at the polls."

But desperate Republicans have been hoping to be struck by lightning for some time now.

Could someone comment on the story that in Ohio, bus loads of folks show up, register to vote, submit an absentee ballot and leave. Isn't this a clear method to vote illegally. There would be no time to verify the information, but the ballot has been cast (secretly of course). I believe ACORN is not the neutral organization, it wants everyone to believe. If fact at one of their conferences, there were speakers which stated exactly who they were supporting, the Democrats.

The issue isn't fake registration or multiple registration it is fake and multiple EARLY ABSENTEE VOTES that were turned in the same day.

to wtjbtm..uhh ok, you have to have your social security number on the absenteee form to vote legally. Do you really think they'd just take any form with no checking behind it. Face it republicans have no legs to stand on anymore. In fact they have the bad guys who are trying to rig the system in California by registering twice in two areas.

The GOP is officially garbage. I have never seen such hostility as I have seen with the McCain campaign.
    Disgusting.

Yet, Obama's ties to ACORN don't bother you in the least.

    The previous poster says:

"Yet, Obama's ties to ACORN don't bother you in the least."

This is a fallacious argument. The other poster did not say McCain was in the wrong because of his association with ACORN, but because he is denigrating Obama for having an association when McCain himself also has one.

In other words (since you seem to be logically challenged), it is not either candidate's association with ACORN that is the problem, it is the attempt to cast aspersions upon one candidate when he has done nothing different than the other.

The simple fact is that you *CANNOT VOTE* without valid ID. While it is true that IDs can be faked, there is *NOTHING* in the allegations that indicates any fake IDs were used - only fake names, addresses and SSNs. Therefore, these fake registrations will *NOT* result in valid votes.

Now, you can run your foolish mouth all day long about how you don't believe this - but the burden of proof is upon you to provide any process or evidence that would show it could happen.

If you don't, but continue to spout BS, it only proves you are nothing but a troll.
