Zelig,
the human chameleon, sneaks toward the Oval Office, with a Frankenstein clone
in his wake, but the real action comes from McConnell, Boehner and his Igor,
Eric Cantor, bumbling toward control of Congress.
With
an inert President, Larry, Curly and Moe could be running the country. It will
only hurt when we laugh.
The
old-movie metaphor stretches just so far, but has the American electorate been
reduced to the pre-adolescent stupor of those days when we blissfully assumed
adults ran the country while we went to school and were entertained on weekends?
With
only hours left in which to grow up, the answer seems to be a resounding maybe.
Before
they go into those chambers to vote, American adults may want to think twice or
thrice before giving themselves over to a mindless Washington dream machine.
At
the end of our day, when the Cracker Jacks and candy were gone, we went home to
a dull but healthful dinner prepared by parents similar to Barack Obama and Democrats,
but at least we didn’t wake up the next day with a tummy ache that could last
four years.
Pass
the popcorn.
It does seem to be a comedy, doesn't it? Or maybe an old Perils of Pauline flick...
