If you work in the White House and have faith in the Attorney General, you can get 75-1 betting he will be elected to the Oval Office next year, compared to Donald Trump and Bill Maher who are 2500-1.
These odds are from an American bookmaker but, for a more dispassionate assessment, the British may be more reliable.
The news from them is that, while Hillary Clinton (2-1) and Rudy Giuliani (3.5-1) are still front runners, Barack Obama has improved from 5-1 to 4-1 six weeks ago, John Edwards from 10-1 to 8-1 with John McCain slipping from 5-1 to 7-1 and Mitt Romney still 10-1.
The undeclared dark horses, Al Gore (8-1) and Fred Thompson (10-1) are in the race, whether they say so or not.
In the real world, the polls show Clinton gaining and Giuliani sliding, but what do they know?
