Will today’s Meet the Press finally end the slow drip of George Tenet’s hair-splitting self-justification that has been testing our sanity since he opened the tap on 60 Minutes a week ago?
Enough. We get the picture. He was, to coin a phrase, only following orders, doing his duty, covering his backside. We may not want it, but we get it. Give it a rest.
When Tim Russert asks Tenet why he didn’t blow the whistle on Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld and their stooges, it’s a rhetorical question. Do elephants fly?
Seeing and hearing him over and over may be useful for someone doing a deep study of the bureaucratic mind but, for the rest of us, it’s torture.
He didn’t serve us well because it wasn’t his table. Just give us the check so we can get the hell out of here.

I caught part of the Tenet-Russert dialog while cooking brunch for the wife and kids. Tenet reminded me of why defense attorneys usually don't want their clients to take the stand.
Anybody hoping for a John Dean style takedown of a presidency can forget about it. This was like watching Tenet and Pearl squirting ketchup packets at each other in the cafeteria.
Having been appointed by Clinton but staying on with Bush, wouldn't you think Tenet would suspect he'd someday be the fall guy?
