Bloomberg: Bill Clinton, Mayor of NYC

"Strange bedfellows" is too pale an expression for this one: Mike Bloomberg, the Republican Mayor of New York who may run for President as an Independent, thinks Bill Clinton, still a Democrat when last checked, is "the only one who can run an operation the size of the city's government."

"I'm not promoting the candidacy of Bill Clinton," the Mayor insists. "But he can legitimately say he ran something that size."

If Hillary Clinton wins in '08 and the former President takes over the mayoralty, there would be some interesting dinner table discussions about Federal Aid to the city as well as living arrangements in the White House and Gracie Mansion.

This Bill-for-Mayor talk was only a P.S. to Bloomberg's putting himself on the national stage by disagreeing with Senator Clinton and others about timetables for getting out of Iraq.

I Love New York politics.
